Technical Delivery at Scale: Inside an 18-Month Airline Support Programme
Overview:
STS provided technical expertise across multiple high-impact fleet projects, including sale-leasebacks, aircraft sales, inductions and post-acquisition integration. Working alongside internal technical operational teams, STS ensured regulatory compliance, reduced lessor friction and kept complex programmes on track under tight timelines.
Key Challenges Faced:
- Limited internal capacity during intense periods of aircraft transitions, inductions and disposals, impacting overall efficiency.
- Tight sale/leaseback timelines required rapid preparation of technical documentation and delivery packs.
- High complexity driven by multiple aircraft types, diverse lessor requirements and concurrent fleet changes.
- Post-acquisition integration of aircraft from a regional subsidiary demanded structured technical coordination.
- Need for flexible resourcing, with the ability to scale support and provide expert input on an ad hoc basis.

Technical support across five major fleet projects, working as an extension of the client’s internal team. Each required precision, speed and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
- Sale-Leaseback Support (20 Aircraft) - Compiled key documentation, prioritised lessor requirements and provided ongoing support as deals progressed.
- Cargo Fleet Transition (4 Aircraft) - Prepared aircraft documentation ahead of potential transition, delivering readiness under tight timelines.
- Q400 Fleet Sale (12 Aircraft) - On-site support for regional fleet sale, managing delivery packs, documentation and buyer engagement over a 10–12 month period.
- 737MAX Induction (9 Aircraft) Led technical due diligence and fleet entry prep across four lessors, avoiding delays and minimising rework.
- Fleet Integration Support (18 Aircraft) - Developed full transition bibles to support the integration of acquired aircraft following a fleet merger, enabling efficient absorption into the mainline operation.
- Fleet Maintenance Documentation Audit - Supported the audit and scanning of maintenance records for digitisation into the airline’s central documentation repository.
